Compromiso: Dos

What is that weird phrase that bloggers sometimes use. Rolling on the floor laughing? Yeah, that's it. Some of the captions you guys came up with really had me ROFL. I'll share my favorite reader prompts, and then when I can remember, I'll let you know what the real phrase was.

Lisa Liang
-Miss ‘Cado just crashed Mr. ‘Cado’s brand new car
Real phrase-I have no idea, but it had NOTHING to do with flatulence :)
Purplelime-Someone forgot to take out the garbage. This one is so funny to me because a few weeks ago Mr. Av didn't take out the garbage and it turned into a stink bomb outside our door. The complex actually issued a new policy about garbage, instituting $50 fines for trash left outside, because of him!
Real prompt-Again, no idea.
Real prompt-"Laugh". Seriously, we should be on tv. Look how convincing that laughter is.
Real prompt-Suavocado pretending to propose. Do you see that nervous look on my face? I am wondering if he is going to do it right now!
And here is my fake reaction to the big moment.
Miss Pom-Mr. Avo Tries To Grab Miss Avo’s Bootie and Gets Caught!
Real prompt-Pretend Mr. Av's mom just walked in on you making out.
Real prompt-Show how you really felt when Miss Avocado trapped your finger between a rock and her red heel just minutes ago.
Purple Lime-Why is the line for the ladies room always so long???
Okay so everyone thinks this picture is me pretending I have to go to the bathroom, but the real prompt is even funnier when you zero in on Suavocado's face while considering it.
Real prompt-Pretend Miss Avocado's skirt just flew up.
mhb-Her sisters are coming to stay with the happy newlyweds for a month right after the wedding!
Real prompt-You just found out you are having twins.
jtg-The Avocados: The Musical. Mr. Avocado hates musicals, and I can't get enough of them, so this phrase fits us really perfectly :)
Thanks for playing gals!

After spending some time in front of the colorful walls at The Westin in Puerto Vallarta, we decided to just walk down the street and see what we could find. This part of the day reminded me why photos usually discourage shooting at noon. The light was harsh, we were sweating, and I even found myself (me, the one who craves photos the way she craves chocolate) wanting to go back to the hotel room and take a shower and a nice long nap.

On the street outside of the hotel we somehow managed to find even more color. I wish the lighting was a little softer here because I love the color combination of red, yellow, and blue. Why don't we see more wedding schemes in that color?

This picture makes me laugh. It is classic me, trying to imitate all the cool and edgy shots that I see during my blog stalking. It is classic him, trying to figure out what the heck I am doing.

It is quite possibly that I am laughing so hysterically because this doorway separated the street from a big, nasty pile of garbage.

The perfect red shoes. I bought them two years ago at the Nordstrom half-yearly sale. It is the first time I have ever purchased the same shoe in two different colors (black and red). I wore the black ones so much that the soles fell out and I had to throw them away. I don't wear the red ones that often because Mr. Avocado not-so-secretly thinks they make me look like I should be working a street corner somewhere. Ridiculous, eh?

I am a huge fan of sun flares, and I love how this one is going down, down, down, and landing right on us. I also love that it looks like we stepped off of the set of Secret Garden.

When I saw this shot I told Kelli "Did you know you accidentally sent me a shot with your legs in it?" She admitted that she threw it in to the mix because she wanted to be a part of the engagement shoot. Awww, I love her!

We ended this portion of the day by squeezing ourselves against a wall to make it look like we were standing in the middle of a beautiful tropical jungle. Fierce right Tyra?

After this we went back to the hotel room where I showered and took a long nap. Then I got up and did my hair and makeup all over again for another round of photos. It just doesn't end people.

Compromiso: Dos (The Captioning)

Before I show you the photos and give my narration for the second part of the multi-part engagement shoot experience, I thought we could play a fun little game. I like games, and I think you might get a kick out of this one as well.

During our shoot we played a game that my roomies and I invented (was this invented without me? I feel like I must have been involved in the invention of this game....) called "Make the Face You Would Make". Basically the person behind the camera yells out a situation, and the person(s) in front of the lens portrays how they would react.

Before I tell you what I remember concerning the prompts for these photos, I would like to explore the creative minds of my readers and see what you all come up with. Tommorow my post will not only include my commentary, but the accompanying (hopefully hilarious) user suggested prompt that would encourage such a pose.

In the comments, please write the phrase that you think Kelli would have yelled out to elicit such reactions and which photo that phrase should belong to. For those of you who are still waiting to have engagement photos taken, I highly recommend using this game to loosed up a little bit. Plus, as you will see, the photos you get out of it are something you don't see every day.

Compromiso: Uno

I mentioned before that Kelli gave me 1000 photos from our engagement shoot. This is not her standard procedure, just a little perk that comes along with being her former roommate. Well, that and a free newborn session when my first child is born :) I am restraining myself from showing you every single one of those photos (as most people around me would say that many of them look exactly the same (which they do not)), but I narrowed it down to about 100 favorites, most of which I plan on showing to you. I am telling you this, because if you hate them, now is the time to tell me, before I work on 4 other glorious, photo-laden posts. But I enjoy the photos (especially since they are of me and my beloved) so I am going to assume you will as well. You can count the witty commentary I attempt to add as a nice little bonus.

We started the day with Mr. Avocado in business casual to get some dressy shots. It was easy for him to do a quick change because we were shooting at the hotel we were staying at.
In the hallway of the hotel we stayed at. They aren't shy about color in Mexico.

We both felt so awkward at first.

We learned that kissing helped us relax just a little bit.

I returned those cute little mustard flats I had and went with my favorite red heels.

Kelli must have done some photoshop magic on this one. My calves certainly don't look that good in real life :)

Notice the palm tree reflection running across the bottom of my dress? That is an in camera effect. Like magic it is.

I think weird things are funny. Like the sign on the hotel property designating this spot as "The Gathering Place". We had never seen an allotment of space such as this before, so we gathered.

Isn't this picture pretty?

I'm so happy I found someone who looks at me like this.

Kelli rented a tilt-shift lens for the trip, and I love the resulting photos. You can see how the lower half of our bodies are slightly out of focus here.

I loved these rocks, and so we clamored out over them. After some fun poses I wanted to keep going and have Kelli do some "far away" shots (which I imagined would look dreamy).

Here we are jumping from boulder to boulder. While I am in my red heels. Mr. Avocado was obviously a city boy because it took him a little bit longer to get there. Sad story: while we were climbing, I stepped on his hand, putting full pressure on it with my heel. The worst part? I don't even like any of the resulting pictures enough to post them. All that work for nothing. I will point out that I don't think Kelli really wanted to take them, but she indulged my silly ideas. I'll listen to her from now on I think.

Things got a little steamy at times.

This is the photo I immediately set to my desktop background while looking through the pictures. I want to gobble Mr. Avocado up, I think he looks so adorable.

Posting this photo is my way of acknowledging how lucky I am to have Danish blood running through my veins. Skin that clear should be passed down for generations.

My advice when it comes to engagements? Don't spend all your time staring straight into the camera and smiling. The picture below tells more about our relationship than a portrait shot like that ever could.

I'm a face smasher. As in, when I kiss, I like to go right in for the kill. Mr. Av spent a lot of time teaching me to hold back a little bit.

We ended up with more than enough photos like this. The kind that make you wonder "What could make this guy want to eat my face? And why would I find such behavior so amusing?"

A contender for our bedroom wall. I think the pose only resulted due to some prompting from Kelli, but that doesn't make the sentiment any less genuine.

More to come, including "Make the face you would make", adventures in finding the perfect beach, an almost proposal at sunset, and some wet and sandy fun.
